In an exciting yet predictable move, Apple has announced that they will be throwing their hat into the ring in the web radio business. iTunes radio will go live at the same time as iOS7  on September 18th.

Subscription-Based Video Service Battle Heating Up

Not too long ago (as in yesterday) on the TechfastCast, we mentioned the new Netflix original series House of Cards that was going to exclusively premiere and be streamed to Netflix subscribers. Even Microsoft is retracting the requirement to have an Xbox Live Gold account to watch Netflix on Xbox360 for three days so that consumers can get a taste of the House of Cards experience (which, according to Andrew, was actually pretty good). However, Amazon must have been listening to yesterday’s TechfastCast and has today announced that it has come to terms with PBS to exclusively carry the US subscription streaming rights to their show Downtown Abbey. The show, which has been enormously popular as of late will have its third season released exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video on June 18th with the previous two seasons (also to be exclusive on Prime) finding their way sometime later this year. That’s not to mention that season four and possibly season five will also be part of the same agreement, with DVD versions still available as well as non-subscription based services such as iTunes.
