In addition to updating the iPad mini, Apple also announced a new full size iPad today, the iPad Air. The Air is the thinnest and lightest full-size iPad that Apple had made to date. The device weighs exactly 1 pound and is 7.5mm thin, 28% lighter and 20% thinner than its predecessor.

Apple held its iPhone event today announcing the long anticipated and rumored iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. Although many of us were expecting announcements for the iPad, Apple TV, and maybe even the iWatch(?), we may need to tune back our urges and be happy with what Tim Cook and friends gave us. The iPhone 5s and 5c will be available for preorder starting tomorrow and will be available to in-store purchase on September 20th.

You’ve wanted, waited, and speculated, and now the iPhone 5s has finally arrived. As anticipated the device will be available in the leaked gold, silver, and black variants. From a hardware perspective Apple’s latest flagship sports three brand-new features: a brand new camera sensor larger pixels and tons of new software features including 120 FPS 720p HD video, Apple’s latest A7 processor that is based on a 64-bit architecture (first ever on a phone), and a finger print scanner (Touch ID) that will allow users to securely unlock their phone.

“iPhone 5C is beautifully, unapologetically plastic” – starting at $99 on contract [Update]

Apple has officially announced the much hyped and rumored iPhone 5c. For all intents and purposes internally the phone is an iPhone 5 (with iOS7), but on the outside consumers will be offered a number of “hard-coated polycarbonate” colored variants to choose from including blue, yellow, pink, green, and white. Apple is also offering up a number of different silicon form-fitting multi-colored cases ($29) for the 5c that feature circular holes that show off the true color of your device.

Microsoft to acquire Nokia devices and servies unit for $7.2 billion

Over the course of the last year, Microsoft has been through a series of tumultuous events, some good, some not so good. From last year’s Surface flop and Steven Sinofsky’s departure, to the more recent company-wide shakeup and Steve Ballmer’s impending resignation the tech behemoth has been making waves. As if there wasn’t already enough going on, Microsoft will be purchasing Nokia for 3.79 billion Euro and an additional 1.65 billion Euro for all of Nokia’s patents (5.44 billion Euro altogether or $7.2 billion). The sale should be completed in Q1 of 2014.
