iWork for iCloud offers full web-based productivity suite

iwork for icloud

By Andrew Levy

In efforts to combat Google’s every pervasive Drive presence, Apple announced iWork for iCloud at WWDC today. Users will be able to create and edit Pages documents, Numbers spreadsheets, and Keynote presentations all in the cloud. The service will function entirely on the web, and from what we saw during Apple’s demo, it looks very functional, smooth, and easy to work with. iWork will even be able to import and edit Word docs.

Apple noted that iWork will function on Safari, Chrome, and IE but did not mention Firefox support. Users will also be able to access the service on Mac and PC, as well as iOS. iWork for iCloud is available for developers starting today, and will be available to the general public later in the year.
