After a couple weeks of back and forth, Microsoft and Google are making moves to co-develop a YouTube app for Windows Phone. The app will be compliant with YouTube’s terms of service which means that it will be able to serve up ads fresh out of the oven. This is in defiance to a recent Windows 8 YouTube app that had removed any sort of advertising. The two tech giants have been battling about the app, with Microsoft blaming Google citing that they had refused to work with them to develop a proper and formal YouTube app.

But the two rivals have made peace and decided to work together. The app is set to debut in the coming weeks, with this statement being issued from the two tech giants:

“Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube’s API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time.”
