Apple introduced a wave of new products this morning including revised versions of the iMac which is now outragously thin, Macbook Pro now thinner and with retina display, Mac mini, iPad now with lighting connector, and a brand new iPad mini. The iPad mini features a 7.9inch display with a 1024 x 768 resolution. The starting price point is $329 which will get you 16gb of storage and wifi. Pretty standard stuff from Apple. The question that we are asking though is whether or not the iPad mini is priced low enough to compete directly with the $200 Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire? From my perspective the iPad mini is more of a competition to its older brother, the full sized iPad. Considering the iPad mini can utilize traditional iPad apps, it is more appealing in a lot of ways primarily the price with the major exception of a retina display. But again, is the iPad mini priced to compete the other smaller tablets on the market, with a slightly larger screen size and clearly better materials? Is the iPad mini the “no brainer purchase” we expected it to be?
